Objectives :

To develop language skills and to get familiar to a specialized vocabulary (independent user, advanced degree)
To learn about how societies work– Become familiar with sociocultural and economic data

To be able:
* To understand:
- To understand documents both written and read aloud, simple explanations and dialogue related to socioeconomic and cultural subjects (economic blocs, human societies, etc.)
- To follow along with conversations between native speakers.
- To carry out research completely independently and to think about current sociocultural and economic events

* To speak:
- To speak fluently and participate in discussions and conversations about selected topics
- To present a subject related to the program clearly and concisely (using appropriate vocabulary)
- To describe, analyze, discuss, debate
- To use tools to comment on statistics, diagrams, etc.

* To write:
- To write simple and more complicated texts on sociocultural and economic subjects (focus on language accuracy/quality).

* To function in a different cultural environment:
- To understand how societies work and evolve

Contents :

Environment, Agricultural sector and Health
- The environment and the agricultural sector (organic products, GMOs, sustainable development, biofuels, etc.)
- Health and Food

Assessment :

• A 2H00 written exam on the environment, the agricultural and health sector - 1.25 credits
• 1 Oral Comprehension Exam - 0.25 credit
• Regular progress checks : 0.5 credit
