Objectives :

To acquire basic knowledge of quantitative and selection genetics
To understand the foundations of genomic selection and its advantages in comparison to selection through progeny.
To have students consider consistency when conducting research between a type of animal and type of livestock production system taking a global livestock production approach from a consulting perspective.

Lectures (CM) Quantitative genetics and selection (9 hrs)
Lectures (CM) Principles of genomic selection (9 hrs)
Lectures (CM) Cross-breeding in bovine dairy production (3 hrs)
Lecture/Seminar (CM/TD) What kind of genetics for which system? (examples) (3 hrs)
Lecture/Seminar (CM/TD) Selection of animals capable of adapting to system changes (3 hrs)

Prerequisites :

Basic knowledge of molecular genetics and statistics

• Animal production: livestock farming and livestock industry (PA)
• Business management, corporate consultancy and international trade and Markets (PCE/CMI)

Common core courses (CC) are engineering tools and Social Sciences. All of them are compulsory.

Inter-major modules (MIM): students will choose only one according to their major
