Objectives :

To understand the connections between production and transformation and/or marketing – To know the technical and organizational action levers to ensure these connections – To understand the organization of value chains.
To give students the tools and methods for working on the link between production and collection / transformation units in complex production areas/basins in order to conduct a diagnostic and identify the causes for a breakdown in performance (in terms of productivity, quality, environment)in order to then recommend adapted interventions designed to improve the crop systems at both technical and organizational levels taking into account the constraints and objectives of actors in farming (farmers, public authorities, collection and storage, etc.).

Contents :

- Study trip to a production area of large food crops: Preparation of field trips upflow and analysis of connections
- Theoretical background on the operation of production areas/ basins and the structuring of value chains (including logistics)- Crop production management tools aimed at quality management

Prerequisites :

Solid knowledge of the operation of cultivated plant coverage and the different components of the crop system: Physics (C, N, P, K), biological (Auxiliaries, biagresseurs) and physical (water, soil)

Teaching methods :

This module is organized around a field study. The study will seek to address a cross-sectional issue which covers strategies and operating methods of an operator(s) downstream and growers (producers).
This study is carried out in a supply basin/area of a co-operative and organized around the question "how to reconcile quality management and environmental requirements in the co-operative of a supply area/basin? Identification of the obstacles and technical and/or organizational action levers at different levels”.

Assessment :

Preparation of a study abroad trip (Group work, oral evaluation): 0.5 ECTS
Final Debriefing + Report (group work): 1.5 ECTS
Individual participation grade for work in the group: 2 ECTS
Written Exam. 2 ECTS

• Crop production and agroecology (PVA)
• Environmental and sustainable Engineering (IED)
• Animal production: livestock farming and livestock industry (PA)
• Business management, corporate consultancy and international trade and Markets (PCE/CMI)

Common core courses (CC) are engineering tools and Social Sciences. All of them are compulsory.

Inter-major modules (MIM): students will choose only one according to their major
